Ann and I would like to thank the City of Caldwell and Legislative District 10 for the tremendous outpouring of support for my campaign for Idaho House in 2013. Receiving 46% of the vote as a conservative Idaho Democrat in a presidential election year was a marked accomplishment for a campaign run in Canyon County. Near as I can tell from looking at records, this was the third best ever race run by a Democrat in 2C the past half century or so.
I’ve had some time to reflect on the whole experience and I want the City of Caldwell to know that I appreciate their opening their doors when I knocked or read something I wrote, whether in the newspaper, my website, or a piece of campaign literature. The City of Caldwell has a large number of both Republicans, Democrats, and those who fall somewhere in between. A Democrat from Legislative District 10 will be elected to the Idaho House of Representatives in short order, and the citizens of this great city will be all the better for it.
Life has settled back to normal and we are enjoying spending time together as a family. I want to again thank my opponent, Brandon Hixon, for a tremendous race. Rep. Hixon is a good man and sincere in his service to the great state of Idaho. We need more dedicated souls like him. Perhaps he and I will do this again sometime.
